“Organic farming and organic food production contribute significantly to the growth and development of Hungarian agriculture,” said Norbert Erdős, Secretary of State of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture.

In 2020, the total area of organic agricultural land in Hungary increased to 303 thousand hectares. Over the past five years, the area has doubled. According to Norbert Erdős, Hungary ranks tenth in the world in terms of growth rates of this indicator.

The Secretary of State stressed that the Hungarian Government is committed to the further development of organic farming and will provide all possible assistance to the sector. For example, in 2021-2027 it is planned to allocate 4500 billion forints (approx. 12.6 billion euros) for the development of rural areas. Within the framework of this program, food industry companies, including those involved in the production of organic food, can also apply for funding for their projects.
